What We Love

  • Compact display easy to operate with one hand.
  • 4G LTE high internet speeds.
  • Decent cameras
  • Good performance
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The ZTE Majesty Pro is an accessible smartphone that comes running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a 4.5-inch display. The smartphone has a powerful quad-core processor, a battery that will last through your workday, and decent cameras to capture all your favorite moments. The Majesty Pro brings to you most of the smartphone features at a price that won’t put a dent on your accounts. Let’s dive into a detailed review of the ZTE Majesty Pro.

The ZTE Majesty Pro is available from Total Wireless and Simple Mobile. It ships in a minimal box, with either Total Wireless or Simple Mobile plan details and logos inscribed over, depending on which one you choose. We have the Simple Mobile version with us for this review; we shall share details of the wireless plans at the end of the review to help you decide which one to go with. Cutting open the box reveals the ZTE Majesty Pro. Other contents in the box includes its back cover, wall adapter charger, USB cable, general user manuals, and a service guide.

The ZTE Majesty Pro has a typical entry level smartphone design. Its body is majorly made of plastic with slightly rounded corners. The back cover is ridged hence giving a firm grip and preventing the devices from sliding out of your hands. The back cover is removable; however, the battery comes preinstalled and is not removable. We have the camera with its LED flash on the top edge and the handsfree speaker grill to the bottom side of the back cover.

The edges follow the typical design of ZTE smartphones. The USB/charging port sits on the left edge, and the volume rockers on the right edge. There’s nothing on the bottom edge, while the power/lock key and headphone jack sits on the top edge.

The front panel is your 4.5-inch display. To the upper part of the display we have the LED indicator, earpiece, proximity sensor, and the front camera lens. To the bottom part of the display, we have the physical navigation keys rather than the floating keys we would expect on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow. A good thing with physical haptic keys is that, they remain accessible even when viewing a full screen video or game, so you can easily exit to the home screen or switch to a recent app using the Recent Apps Key. Let’s proceed to the next section of the review.

ZTE Majesty Pro has a 4.5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480 x854 pixels. This is a competitively good display for a phone in this price range. The multi-touch display is quite responsive with no noticeable lag when switching between apps or swiping across the screen. While indoors, the screen visibility is great with clear photos, videos and application interfaces. While outdoors, the screen automatically brightens up to allow easy visibility, however it tends to struggle in direct sunlight, which is normal for most smartphones in this price range.

The ZTE Majesty Pro sports a 5MP back camera and 2MP front camera. For a phone in this price line, the ZTE Majesty Pro performs sufficiently good. The back camera will ensure you capture memorable moments whether it’s daytime or night time, thanks to the bright LED flash. The camera also has the autofocus feature which helps fine-tune the focus of the camera to ensure clear shots. The front camera, which is quite limited in terms of pixels is only good for video calls and capturing portrait photos. Surprisingly, the phone can shoot high definition 720p videos which we found to be interesting.

The ZTE Majesty Pro comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 2100mAh battery. At first, you may think less of the battery capacity, but putting all factors on the table, you will be pleasantly surprised. With only a 4.5-inch display and a less power-hungry processor, the phone will last just through your work day. The battery is rated to give up to 11 days of standby, and up to 12 hours of talk time. In our test, the phone went through a workday of regular use. Regular usage involves occasional texting, phone calls, checking emails and responding to social media chats. For intensive usage involving YouTube streaming or gaming, the phone should give about 5 hours before notifying you to find a charging outlet.

ZTE Majesty Pro ships with an internal storage of 8GB, with about 4GB available to the user. This may not be much, but considering it is in the lower end tier, it’s a totally welcome idea.  Luckily enough, the phone also features a microSD slot for external memory expansion up to 32GB with a memory card.

The ZTE Majesty Pro performed competitively well for a device in this price range. The gadget ships running Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is one of the best and updated versions of Android. It brings to you some of the best Google features such as multitasking, a smooth user interface, and the Google voice activated AI. The ZTE Majesty Pro is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz, and this is coupled with 1GB of RAM. These resources will ensure you achieve all your daily tasks without a sweat.

Onboard we have Adreno 304 GPU that handles the graphics tasks. For a phone in this price, this is a quite a satisfactory graphics processor that will handle the less intensive games without much stress. High definition 720p YouTube videos show up nicely. The phone is also 4G LTE enabled ensuring you enjoy fast internet speeds when streaming or browsing the internet. I had no issues with call quality over the Simple Mobile network and am sure it will work well with Total Wireless Plans.

The ambient light sensor, which is a typical feature in most smartphones, helps in adjusting screen brightness to the lighting in the immediate surrounding. By auto adjusting screen brightness, it helps conserve battery life and keep the phone powered on for long. For location services, the GPS pinpoints your location way fast to ensure you are navigating in the right direction.
