Throughout the years, Motorola has consistently introduced flagship-level features into its mid-range phones. With Motorola One Zoom, the brand aims to continue the trend by bringing top-of-the-line camera hardware and software to this affordable device.Â
The Motorola One Zoom keeps the signature Moto features while delivering a richer multimedia experience. Its unique suite of cameras scales your photography and videography skills to new heights. Optical image stabilization and AI features provide you with best-in-class capabilities that keep drawing you back for another shot. The Moto One Zoom features a high-resolution optical zoom camera that captures great details even from a distance without sacrificing picture quality. Besides the excellent camera, the device offers a stunning OLED display, decent design, and a near Stock Android experience. Let’s move on to our comprehensive Motorola One Zoom review.
Motorola Moto One Zoom comes in lovely purple packaging with Motorola branding at the top. Its packaging looks similar to that of its sibling – the Motorola One Action. A picture of the device appears on the back of the box, along with some basic specifications. Lifting the box reveals the device already covered with a screen protector and equipped with a transparent case.Â
It is available in three colors: Electric Gray, Cosmic Purple, and Brushed Bronze. We received the Cosmic Purple version. Underneath the smartphone are the product guides and SIM ejection tool. The charging adapter, USB Type-C cable, and earphones lie under the product guides.Â

As far as design goes, the Motorola One Zoom differs greatly from its siblings, such as the Moto One Action. On the front, it features a big, beautiful 6.4-inch OLED screen with a notch instead of a punch-hole selfie camera. With rounded edges, it has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, making it comfortable to hold. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio improves the viewing experience, while the smooth edges on the side make it easier to use for extended periods.
The 3D satin glass on the back combined with the matte finish gives off a solid appearance. It also keeps fingerprints and smudges at bay without adding excessive weight. A large camera module hosts the quad-camera setup in perfect symmetry on the back of the device. The Motorola logo under the cameras also doubles as a notification light, and lights up when there are notifications on the screen. The dual-LED flash is housed left of the camera panel. We recommend using the phone case to protect the camera bump from scratches.Â
The power button and volume rocker are on the right side of the device. Its textured surface makes the power button easy to find, as with most Moto devices. The speaker, microphone, and SIM card slot are on the top edge. The bottom edge hosts the 3.5mm headphone jack, charging port, and a secondary microphone.

The Motorola One Zoom brings cutting-edge photography to your hands. Similar to the Huawei P30 Pro, it features a quad camera setup with a selfie camera in the front:
The high resolution 48MP rear camera with quad pixel technology provides 4x greater light sensitivity while improving color accuracy. Phase detection auto-focus ensures you get clear, crisp pictures of moving objects. The 48MP primary and 8MP telephoto lenses both support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) so that the images are blur-free even if your hands shake. Capture close-up photos of distant subjects with 3x optical zoom on the telephoto lens. It is further capable of 10x hybrid zoom.
The 117º ultra-wide-angle lens on the One Zoom captures what your bare eyes see, making it perfect for large group shots, beautiful landscapes, and expansive architecture. Sometimes you need a shallow depth of field to blur the background and focus on the subject. Using the 5MP depth camera, you can capture portraits with a blurred background to draw attention to your subject. With the 25 MP front camera, take detailed selfies no matter your angle. If you’re taking a picture in those dimly lit restaurants or dark clubs, this camera will make sure your images still come out looking great. The best part? It automatically clicks group photos when everyone in the frame is smiling. Â
Improve the camera performance under low-light situations using the Night Vision mode. Artificial intelligence automatically adjusts camera settings according to the lighting and subject for the perfect click. Overall, the camera performance of Moto One Zoom is surprisingly good. We were happy with the decent results. The Quad-Camera system of Motorola One Zoom gives it a significant advantage over other mid-range devices.
The Motorola One Zoom smartphone features a huge display for people who enjoy big screens on a device that is easy to hold thanks to its rounded edges. This device comes with a 6.4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels that Motorola calls Max Vision. The screen is slightly larger than the Galaxy Note 10 and smaller than Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max. A mighty combination of Panada King glass on the front and Gorilla Glass 3 on the back provides excellent scratch and crack resistance. The display also features an on-screen fingerprint sensor that works like a charm. With a Full HD+ display, playing games and watching movies on the screen is a treat with good viewing angles. With a pixel density of 403ppi, the device is convenient to use under direct sunlight with sufficient brightness.
Stay on the move all day with up to 2-days of battery life. The powerful 4000mAh battery means you’re able to talk, stream, play, and click photos for longer. After a full day of use, we still had slightly over 50% juice left in the battery. Despite heavy usage, this Android phone still made it to the second day with enough battery life to spare.Â
The device also supports fast charging and comes with a TurboPower charger that gets you hours of battery life in minutes of charging. A half-hour recharge will extend your battery life by 40%, according to Motorola. A full recharge from 0% takes slightly over one and a half hours. The smart battery saver feature is a big plus and extends battery life by significant amounts. The Google Pixel 3a, a worthy rival to the Motorola One Zoom, features only a 3000 mAh battery. Overall, the device will not disappoint you in terms of battery life.
The phone provides an impressive 128GB of internal storage, which should meet the needs of most users. 128GB is ample space to store many apps along with thousands of photos and videos. You can also download multiple heavy games without running out of space.Â
With Google Photos, automatically backup your memories to the cloud. If you still need more space, supplement the internal storage with a microSD card, up to an additional 1TB.
Whether it’s entertainment, productivity, photography, or gaming – the dynamic Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor will smoothly power it all. With this mid range processor, on-device interactions are much easier as the AI engine is 50% faster than the previous generation. Combined with 4GB RAM, the device also handles multitasking with ease. Stream videos, play games, and browse the web simultaneously without a hitch.Â
The device runs Android 9 Pie out of the box. It isn’t a part of the Android One lineup like its siblings but offers a near-stock Android experience. Its user interface is clutter-free and straightforward, with no unnecessary apps. Exclusive Motorola features like Moto Actions help you quickly access apps with natural gestures – like twisting your wrist twice opens the camera app, a chopping motion with your wrist turns on the flashlight, running three fingers across the screen takes a screenshot, and much more. The Motorola One Zoom had all our basic requirements sorted and held up well in day-to-day usage.
The Moto One Zoom is an exciting phone for many reasons, including decent specs, and an impressive camera. Motorola has worked hard to deliver a smartphone with all four of the most popular camera configurations – standard, wide-angle, telephoto, and depth. Additionally, the camera software allows anyone to become a professional photographer.
Add in the awesome OLED display, fast charging, in-display fingerprint sensor, and you have one remarkable phone. It ticks off a lot of boxes at a reasonable price. For those who prioritize flagship-level cameras, the Motorola One Zoom is ideal for you.
