The Motorola One 5G is one of the most affordable 5G phones in the market. It was launched in the United States in September 2020. The device is similar in specs to the Moto G 5G Plus, which was only made available for the European market. Those who don’t want to pay a premium price for a flagship phone can enjoy 5G speeds with the Motorola One 5G.
Making a cell phone that’s decent enough at this price point is hard, and Motorola has come close to succeeding here. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor and runs on Android 10. Six cameras are strategically positioned on the device to help you capture stunning images. Currently, the mobile phone is available unlocked or via official carrier partners, AT&T and Verizon. The unlocked Motorola One 5G supports 5G on T-Mobile and 4G on AT&T and Cricket. Motorola says 5G support for AT&T and Cricket will be available soon. Let’s get into a comprehensive Motorola One 5G review.
The smartphone arrives in a black colored box with AT&T branding in the middle. The Motorola One 5G logo appears on the box’s bottom edge. Opening the box reveals the Motorola device, protected by a transparent film. The Android device comes in a single color – Oxford Blue. Underneath this 5G phone are the product guides, warranty card, charging adapter, Type-C cable, and a SIM ejection pin.

The Motorola One 5G is a large phone, and you’ll notice it right away when you pick it up. It features a 6.7-inch display that stretches from edge to edge. The device is sufficiently wide and comfortable to hold. On the front are dual punch-hole selfie cameras that lend a premium look to the device. Rarely do phones come equipped with dual selfie cameras, making this a unique feature for the Moto One 5G. The Oxford Blue color looks great and grabs your attention.
The back of the device has a textured pattern and glossy finish. It also houses the quad-camera setup in the upper left corner. All four cameras are positioned in a square shape with perfect symmetry. An industry-first ring flash encircles the Macro camera to ensure better lighting. The main LED flash is right next to the camera panel. The Motorola logo is inscribed in the middle of the device.
The volume rocker and power button are on the right edge of the phone. The power button also works as a fingerprint sensor, which allows you to unlock the phone quickly. A headphone jack, USB Type-C charging port, microphone, and speaker are placed left to right on the bottom edge. The SIM card slot is present on the left edge while the top edge houses a secondary microphone.
The Motorola One 5G lets you capture exactly what you’re looking for in any scenario with a unique camera system. The phone features the following six cameras:
Access the highest definition in your photos with the Motorola One 5G. The 48MP main camera clicks brighter, sharper pictures and uses quad pixel technology. Quad pixel technology improves the low light performance of the camera and ensures less noise in photos.
The 5MP macro camera on the rear works surprisingly well. We were able to take clear close-up shots with spot-on color accuracy and no lost detail. The ring flash that surrounds the macro camera further improves the picture. Moto One 5G has one of the best macro vision cameras among budget phones.
The 118° ultra-wide lens perfectly fits everyone in the shot at get-togethers and even captures nature’s beauty with great detail. According to Motorola, this camera can capture 4x more of the scene than a standard camera. The ultra wide angle shots from the device were decent. The 2 MP depth sensor detects the subject and blurs the background for a portrait effect. The Portrait mode is best for DSLR-level photography.
Get the perfect selfies with the dual-camera system on the front. The 8MP ultra-wide lens lets you get everyone in the frame for hilarious group shots, while the 16 MP quad pixel camera ensures everyone looks great. The Motorola phone can also record 4K videos at 30fps. Photos and videos are automatically uploaded to the Google Photos app for easy access across devices. Overall, the camera performance of the device didn’t let us down.
With a stunning 6.7 inch Full HD+ display, the Motorola One 5G delivers a viewing experience that makes you feel like you’re watching a big-screen TV. The display stretches seamlessly from edge to edge, giving the device a premium look. It has a pixel resolution of 1080 x 2520 with a 21:9 aspect ratio for easy handling of the device. Motorola calls it the CinemaVision display. With the 90Hz refresh rate, scrolling, swiping, and playing games feels faster than ever before. It also supports HDR10, which further enhances the brightness and overall quality of your content to make it appear more realistic.
The round edged screen offers the widest viewing angles with minimal distortion, so you don’t miss any of the action while you enjoy your favorite movies, shows, and YouTube videos. The display gets fairly bright, and we had no problems using this Moto phone under direct sunlight.
With the massive 5000mAh battery, you get plenty of power to get through the most demanding tasks – even when you’re on the move. Motorola claims that the excellent battery life is powerful enough to keep you going for two full days on a full charge. However, actual performance may differ based on signal strength, battery condition, and usage patterns. After hours of binge-watching, playing games, and listening to music, the battery still had more than 50% juice left in it.
The device also comes bundled with a 15W TurboPower charging adapter. TurboPower charging gets you hours of battery life within just minutes of charging, making this the perfect Android phone for people who lead busy lives.
Store all the photos, videos, and apps you need on the Moto One 5G. The phone comes with a massive 128GB of internal storage out of the box. In our opinion, 128GB of storage will be sufficient for most people. However, you can easily expand the storage to 1TB with a microSD card for more space. The Moto One 5G is an ideal choice if you love downloading movies, capturing lots of photos and videos, and playing heavy games.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G processor provides the perfect balance of power and speed without sacrificing battery life. It’s optimized for superior gaming and renders graphics 10% faster compared to the standard Snapdragon 765.
The smartphone is a true workhorse and can keep up with all the multi-tasking for your apps and games. You will find it incredibly easy to navigate between heavy tasks. Currently, it runs on Android 10 and will also support Android 11 in the future. You get a near-stock Android experience on the unlocked device. There is no bloatware, duplicate apps, or software skins to ruin your experience. Contactless payments can be made using NFC technology, which is very helpful during the pandemic.
Exclusive Moto apps like My UX let you customize your device settings according to your needs. You can use simple gestures to turn on the LED light, launch the camera, etc. You can also use the power button, which doubles as a fingerprint sensor, to check notifications, open recent apps, and access shortcuts or tools. In terms of performance, the Motorola One 5G lived up to our expectations.
Motorola One 5G is a real winner with blazing-fast 5G speeds, a strong mobile network, tons of prominent features, and six cameras. Make calls, watch videos, browse social media feeds on the big CinemaVision display. A decent processor and 4GB RAM make it easy to multitask and do more things at once.
