Motorola has rejoined the flagship smartphone market in a spectacular fashion with the Motorola Edge+ after many years of absence. Motorola has launched two phones in the Edge series; the Motorola Edge, a mid-range phone, and the Motorola Edge+, which competes with flagship devices like the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, or OnePlus 8 Pro. The Motorola Edge is unlocked and available on all carriers, while the Motorola Edge+ is exclusive to Verizon.
True to the Moto promise, the Moto Edge+ delivers the best of everything – the fastest performance, the loudest audio, and the brightest display. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, the phone is a beast and meant for power users. The device is named after its curved screen that stretches over the edges of the phone. Another feature that sets this Motorola phone apart is Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network, plus Wi-Fi 6. It offers crazy fast 5G data speeds. Check out our in-depth Motorola Edge+ review below.Â
The device arrives in an elegant black colored box with the Motorola Edge+ branding on the top. The packaging box is strong and sturdy, similar to the Motorola Edge. Opening the box reveals the device covered by a protective film. Moto Edge+ is available in two colors – Thunder Gray and Smoky Sangria. We received the Thunder Gray version. Underneath the flagship phone lies another package containing the product guides, warranty card, and SIM ejection tool. Below this box is the 18W charging adapter and a Type-C cable.

The Motorola Edge+ is designed for those who want the very best smartphone experience. When a high-end finish, excellent build, and an attention-getting design come together, you get the Moto Edge+. The large 6.7-inch display wraps around both sides of the phone at 90°, creating a bezel-less experience. Motorola calls it the Endless Edge display. Only the top and bottom edges have slight bezels.Â
With an aluminum frame and a glass back, the phone has a smooth contoured look that fits comfortably in your hand. The reflective glass on the back, combined with the Endless Edge display adds class to the device. A punch-hole selfie camera replaces the notch for a better viewing experience. The phone looks as premium as other flagship phones in the market. The back houses a triple camera setup, LED flashlight, and a Motorola logo in the middle.
The volume rocker and power key are on the right edge. The power key has a slight texture for easier detection. The SIM card slot, USB Type-C port, and speakers are left to right on the bottom edge of the phone. You also get a headphone jack on the top edge, which is rather rare nowadays.
With the multiple rear cameras, optical image stabilization, and AI, Motorola Edge+ has everything to help you click professional-level photographs. The phone features the following cameras:
Motorola claims that the 108 MP camera sensor is three times larger than conventional flagship cameras, allowing it to capture more light and produce vividly detailed images. The main camera also supports quad pixel binning, which results in better images and greater color reproduction. It also helps in improving the camera’s performance under low light conditions. Discover the details in your photos by pinching and zooming without losing quality.
The 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom lets you capture details that might be missed if you’re at a distance. It’s great for capturing vivid images at concerts, sporting events, wildlife safaris, and more. The 16 MP ultra wide camera lets you capture 4x more of the scene in the shot. It’s ideal for big landscapes and sweeping city scenes. When it comes to group photos, everyone can fit in the shot.
The camera app has a neat interface with many useful features. You can use night mode to improve photo quality under low light, spot color mode to play with different colors, and portrait mode to get a classic blur effect in the background for DSLR level photography. Under broad daylight, results from these cameras were impressive. The photos look sharp and clear, with no lost details. Color accuracy was spot on, with no noise in images. Under low light conditions, we recommend you to use night mode for improved results. Overall, the camera performance of Motorola Edge+ was decent.
The Moto Edge+ has one of the best displays in the industry. It features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display supports HDR10+, which allows you to enjoy movies and shows as the director intended. You get to see better colors and enhanced pictures for an immersive experience. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 to withstand hard drops.
The Endless Edge display also provides some functionality with style. You can swipe up, swipe down or tap on the edge to see notifications, open recent apps, and access shortcuts or tools. With a 90Hz refresh rate, scrolling is much more seamless than ever before. Playing games is also a lot better on this display than the conventional 60Hz refresh rate displays.Â
The phone also offers an in-display fingerprint reader, which works surprisingly well. Viewing angles are up to the mark, and everything feels crisp and clear on-screen. Under direct sunlight, the content on the screen was clearly visible. Overall, we’re satisfied with the display performance.
With a massive day and night battery life, the Moto Edge+ has enough power to keep up with all your needs. The phone features a 5000mAh battery that Motorola claims can last over 2 days on a full charge. The Snapdragon 865 processor also ensures less battery drain with heavy tasks.Â
After scrolling through social media, watching binge-worthy shows, and playing video games for hours, the battery still had 50% juice left in it. The phone comes bundled with an 18W TurboPower adapter that gets you hours of battery life within minutes of charging. You can also charge the phone wirelessly. The battery life of the Motorola Edge+ will not disappoint you.
With 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, the phone has an incredibly large storage capacity. UFS stands for Universal Flash Storage 3.0, which offers fast read and write speeds while consuming less battery. With an internal storage capacity of 256GB, you can store thousands of photos, videos, documents and download multiple heavy games. Never worry about running out of room with the Moto Edge+.

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G chipset and 12GB of LPDDR5 memory, the device powers through everyday multitasking, ensures fantastic graphics, and runs your favorite apps for seamless performance all day long. Breaking the boundaries of what’s possible in a 5G device, the Snapdragon 865 is designed for the next generation of mobile devices. It enhances 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to power premium devices with advanced features, including Gigapixel speed photography and desktop-level gaming experience. The 12GB LPDDR5 RAM is more power-efficient than its predecessor.
The phone handled anything we threw at it with ease. Graphic intensive games like Call of Duty and PUBG Mobile worked smoothly at high settings. Running multiple apps at once didn’t cause any problems. The phone also offers dual stereo speakers for an immersive experience. The speakers deliver high-quality audio even at maximum volume.Â
The Motorola Edge+ runs a pure version of Android OS. There is no bloatware or duplicate software to ruin your experience. Motorola Exclusive features like My UX and Moto Action will further improve your experience. My UX lets you customize fonts, colors, and icons to help you add a personalized touch to the device, while Moto Action allows you quickly access the camera, flashlight, or take screenshots with simple hand gestures. The performance of the Moto Edge+ is on par or, in some cases, better than other flagship smartphones.
