Alcatel SMARTFLIP Unboxing
The Alcatel SMARTFLIP arrives in a solid black box. It has blue AT&T branding on top and the Alcatel SMARTFLIP logo on the edge. Lifting the box reveals the black-colored device – Alcatel calls it Volcano Black. The external screen has a protective sticker to protect it from unwanted scratches. Underneath the Alcatel phone, you can find the product guides, including the quick start and warranty guide. You also get a micro USB charger and a removable battery in the box.

Alcatel SMARTFLIP Design
With a soft matte finish, the AT&T Alcatel SMARTFLIP is sure to impress. The 1.44-inch external display gives the Alcatel flip phone a modern appearance while still retaining its classic design. Measuring in at 4.13 x 2.08 x 0.75 inches, the device is compact and easily fits in hand or pocket. Above the external display is the camera. The AT&T logo appears below the external display.
The back of the device has a speaker grill on the top and Alcatel branding at the bottom. Opening the flip reveals the internal display and T9 keypad. The T9 keypad has large, effectively spaced keys that make texting a breeze. When pressed, they provide satisfying feedback.
A volume rocker button is on the right side. The bottom edge has a microphone. A micro USB charging port and 3.5 mm headphone jack is on the left.

You can click pictures when needed with the Alcatel SMARTFLIP. It features a 2 MP camera. While this device isn’t designed for professional photography, you can still use it to snap and share important moments with friends and family. Considering it’s a basic cell phone, the quality of images under daylight was decent. You can also capture 320p videos at 30fps. Overall, the Alcatel SMARTFLIP’s camera does its job well.

Take advantage of the versatility of the Alcatel SMARTFLIP, which has two displays integrated into one device. The 1.44-inch external display has a resolution of 128×128 pixels, whereas the 2.8-inch internal display has a resolution of 320×240 pixels.
The external display allows you to check the time, battery level and see who is calling without opening the flip phone. On the other hand, the internal display is for primary functions such as accessing contacts, watching photos & videos, texting, browsing the internet, etc. Despite the low resolution, we could see the content on the screen clearly. The text was sharp, and icons were easily recognizable. Items on display are straightforward, as there are no complicated options to confuse you. In our opinion, the Alcatel SMARTFLIP’s display gets the job done.
Alcatel SMARTFLIP Battery
The Alcatel SMARTFLIP comes with a 1,350 mAh battery that ensures you get the most out of the mobile phone for daily activities. It offers a standby time of up to 320 hours on 4G, 350 hours on 3G, and 330 hours on 2G. In terms of talk time, it offers up to 6.8 hours on 4G, 8 hours on 3G, and 6 hours on 2G.
The device could last over two days with low usage. Under heavy use, the battery can easily last throughout the day. We consider a 1,350 mAh battery sufficient for this smart flip phone.

For storing contacts and app data, this Alcatel mobile comes with 16GB of internal storage. However, you can expand the storage to 32GB with an external microSD card to store more photos, videos, apps, and files. Additional space may not be required if you use the device for basic tasks such as calling & texting. However, if you wish to keep more files, an SD card is your best option.

We didn’t experience any problems during phone calls. Call quality was up to the mark. The speaker was pretty loud, and we could hear the phone ringing or playing music from a distance. Real-time text allows recipients to read messages as they’re being typed. Hearing aid compatibility makes the Alcatel SMARTFLIP a user-friendly device.
