If you are looking for a phone with fantastic battery life at a budget-friendly price, then the LG X Venture retailing at about $330 is right for you. LG and US Cellular decided to surprise us with a phone built with rugged and sturdy features. The LG X Venture is the phone most of us have been dreaming of, boasting military-grade durability. It also has a large built-in battery and chin-mounted buttons on its sides. The LG X Venture smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch high definition display, high-resolution camera and battery life that will last just over a day of heavy usage. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor packed in the phone focuses on meeting all your daily operations without sweat.
The LG X Venture phone exclusively from the US Cellular official website. It is also available for purchase from the official LG website and e-commerce platforms such as eBay and BestBuy. Once shipped to your desired location, you will find a quick setup guide, phone manuals, a standard USB cable and an adapter charger in the box. You will also find a SIM plate remover that will help you insert your SIM in the newly-purchased phone.
At first sight, one can tell that the LG X Venture is a phone built to sustain physical damages. To be precise, the phone has metal frame wraps around each corner and a back cover made of silicone to give it maximum protection whenever it falls on a rough surface. The back cover hosts the camera with its flash on the top and the speaker on the bottom. The back cover is also non-removable for water and dust resistance purposes.
The front panel has the 5.2-inch IPS touchscreen. To the top of the display, we have proximity/ambient light sensor, front camera lens, earpiece, and the notification LED. The front-facing fingerprint sensor is mounted on the bottom of the display, together with physical navigation keys.
To the left edge, you will find the volume rockers, a hotkey for launching specific apps, and the SIM/microSD card tray. The right edge has the power/lock key. The bottom edge has the 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as the USB Type-C port for charging/file transfer. That sums up our tour around the device.
One thing that most of you will love about the LG X Venture is its high-resolution camera. The phone sports a 5-megapixel selfie camera and a 16-megapixel rear camera. You will definitely enjoy taking pictures using the rear camera that boasts of responsive auto-exposure and auto-focus capabilities. The rear camera also offers a great level of color reproduction when taking pictures both indoors and outdoors. In terms of recording videos, the 16-MP rear camera can take 1080p video clips at 30fps.
Besides its rear camera, the LG X Venture phone also boasts of a 5-MP front camera with wide-angle lenses. This camera is ideal for taking solid pictures with proper lighting. The good thing about the camera is that it can still perform well in low light conditions. You will particularly enjoy taking selfies, as the front-facing camera works with a pre-installed app for adjusting the wide-angle mode.
With a 5.2-inch high-definition screen, the LG X Venture phone has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixel, bringing the pixel density to 423ppi. The IPS technology guarantees incredible visibility both indoors and outdoors. For adaptability purposes, the ambient light sensor will automatically adjust the screen brightness depending on your surrounding to ensure good visibility and power optimization. As a tough and rugged smartphone, the LG X Venture has a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection for maximum durability. The glass is scratch resistant and won’t easily break on hitting a hard surface.
One of the features that phone enthusiasts are always on the lookout for when purchasing a new phone is the battery life. The LG X Venture boasts of a sizable 4,100mAh battery that will give you up to 24 hours of talk time, and 30 days of standby. If you ask me, this phone’s battery is one of the longest lasting in phones under this price line. On a regular day of constant usage that involves streaming videos on YouTube, playing high graphics games, and map navigation, the phone lasts about 11 hours. This is almost double the time other phones in this price line lasts.
With the Android 7.0 Nougat, you can adjust the battery saving options that the phone offers. For instance, if you leave your phone fully charged without touching it for 12 hours, you may find the battery charge still at 100 percent. In the event that you run out of juice, the fast charging capability of the phone will fill up the battery up to 50% in under 48 minutes.
I believe that LG did a good job by packing a considerable 32GB of internal storage on the LG X Venture. Out of this internal, you have about 22GB available for your use, while the rest houses the operating system and preinstalled apps. The phone also has a microSD slot that supports an external microSD with a memory of up to 2TB. It enables you to easily transfer large files from and to your phone. While I found the internal storage to be sufficient for my use, the possibility to add an additional 2TB to my storage is totally welcome. This allows you the convenience of having all your data stored in the device while on the go.
We all look forward to owning a phone that boasts of high processing speeds and cost-effective market prices. The LG X Venture smartphone will not disappoint you, with its ample runtime memory of 2GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor. The LG X Venture is not only designed to last long, but also the internal features are meant for high-performance use. The phone is packed with Adreno 505 GPU to handle all your high graphics games, videos and more.
The LG X Venture ships running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The exciting features of Android 7.0 Nougat is the fluid interface, Google Assistant AI, multi-window mode, and the built-in blue light filter. LG UX 5.0+ skin runs on top of the Android OS, bringing in unique icons, notification panel, and an improved user interface. Even with the LG UX skin on top, the OS looks like stock Android, which is pretty cool, especially if you prefer a clean operating system. Of course, this coming US Cellular, it is expected to have a few bloatware which did not interfere with my normal operations whatsoever.
The LG X Venture supports other features like comfort view, smart keyboard, one-handed operation and shortcut keys. Packed with the software are utility apps such as battery saver, LG Health, and Quick Memo. Regarding connectivity, the LG X Venture has 4G LTE that is ideal for fast video streaming and web browsing experiences. As a growing trend in recent phones, the LG X Venture also has the USB Type C reversible connector. The phone adequately responds to its surroundings thanks to the packed in sensors including barometer, proximity, gyro, accelerometer, and compass.
