Overview

The aptly named Alcatel GO Flip is a feature phone with a stylish flip design. The phone comes with a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM and is 4G LTE enabled. The phone boasts an all-day lasting battery which will ensure you go through your day without worrying about a charging outlet. It's undoubtedly the first LTE enabled feature phone to come running the KaiOS. Let's dive into the review.

Unboxing

The Alcatel GO Flip is available from the Sprint Wireless website paired with the amazing Sprint Wireless Prepaid or Postpaid wireless plans. More on the plans later in this review. The box includes the Alcatel Go Flip, battery, quick start guide, wall adapter charger, and the activation card.

Design

Alcatel Go Flip has the typical flip phone design. The external 1.4-inch display is readily available for notification preview and time checking when the flip is closed. The charging port and the headphone jack are on the left edge. To the right side, we have the dedicated camera key and the volume rockers. The back cover has your main speaker with an Alcatel branded logo at the center. Peeling off the back cover will reveal the battery compartment. The SIM card and the microSD card are just below the battery compartment.  A 2MP camera is on the flip cover. With the flip cover lifted, you will have the device at full length. A 2.8-inch main display is on the upper part and a physical alphanumeric keypad on the lower side.

Camera

We may not always expect to have cameras on basic feature phones. The Alcatel GO Flip is a unique kind of basic phone because it features a 2MP rear camera. While it can capture some nice photos, it surprisingly can also capture 720p videos. Of course, the video quality may not compare with what you get in highly priced flagship smartphones, but it's sufficient for a feature phone.

Battery

The Alcatel GO Flip features a 1350mAh battery with a talk time of 8 hours and a standby time of 11 days. Given the limited functionalities and power draining features, the phone will give you a full day of usage. The battery is also user removable, so you can easily swap it with a full battery if it runs out. Nevertheless, looking for a charger before your work day is over shouldn't worry you. With moderate use, the battery can even go up to two days.

Storage

Being a basic feature phone, I didn't expect much in terms of internal storage on the Alcatel GO Flip. But I was pleasantly surprised. The phone features 4GB of onboard storage. Given the limited functionalities, this is sounds sufficient. Surprisingly, it has support for external memory expansion. You may add a microSD card of up to 32GB if you would like to improve data storage options. Having such an option is a welcome feature which I was impressed with.

Performance

The Alcatel GO Flip comes with the KaiOS which features a basic menu with access to apps, messaging, ringers, and other phone settings. It has 1.1GHz quad-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM which facilitates your daily operations by providing a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

The Alcatel GO Flip has 4G LTE capabilities which facilitate the fastest internet connectivity. With the installed browser, you will be able to browse and finish your tasks faster. The mobile hotspot feature is a great bonus mostly found in smartphones. Luckily, the Alcatel GO Flip has this feature, meaning you can easily share your mobile internet.

Call quality on the Sprint network is excellent. Which is probably the Alcatel GO Flip's primary function. It will additionally offer voice roaming when you temporarily go outside the Nationwide Sprint Network coverage.

The phone has Bluetooth 3.0 for fast sharing of files between nearby devices. If you run out of data, the phone has Wi-Fi capability for connecting to hotspots. The Alcatel GO Flip is an easy to learn phone that you will purchase and start using straight away. Below follows a list of the specifications.
